Madison

A few weeks ago, we spent a long weekend in Madison, exploring campus, downtown and a bunch of nature. Mike and I have wanted to visit Madison since we moved to Chicago and I can't believe it took us so long to make it. But we had a wonderful time and we can't wait to go back. Madison is full of charm and fun stuff to do.

We were so lucky to find an incredible apartment to rent across the street from a huge lake-front park and just a few blocks to the capitol building and downtown.

Campus had some beautiful nature preserves to explore. We spent a bunch of time hiking and biking.

We discovered how spoiled the girls are by Lake Michigan being a sand-bottom lake. They were not a fan of the grass and "funk" in the Madison lakes. But we still had fun on the beaches.

We biked all over campus checking out some of their iconic buildings and landmarks. Mike and I were more interested than the girls and there was a good deal of whining to make sure we were aware of their displeasure.

It was a quick and fun-filled trip and I feel like we barely scratched the surface of all Madison has to offer. We'll definitely be back again...and it won't take 11 years this time.
