We had a beautiful and super fun-filled Easter Weekend in Chicago. Sunny skies and temps in the 70's/80s. We had such a great time with neighborhood Easter activities, park trips, our first bike ride of the season, dinner with friends, baskets full of goodies from the Easter Bunny and THREE Easter egg hunts!
The link to the full album of pictures is at the bottom. But here are my favorites:
We kicked off the weekend with the 3rd Annual Palmer Square Easter Egg Hunt. Palmer Square is one of our favorite parks; I've been taking June since she was a baby. It's pretty flat terrain there, so it's more of a Easter Egg Pick-Up than a true "hunt." But the girls had fun.
This might be my favorite pic of the weekend--dress riding up over her tummy, dirty knees, basket slipping out of her hands because she's so interested in something else....
Milestone Alert: Lily can open candy wrappers now.
After Lil's nap on Saturday, we dyed Easter Eggs. Thankfully the weather cooperated and we got to do this activity outside. The girls are both still super impatient and basically just want to drop things in water and fetch them. I think the actual dying of eggs is still lost on them.
Someone please tell me when this child got so big!
This one too!
Studying her egg
At least this year our eggs were mostly the correct colors. In years past, they all get run through the gauntlet and come out a murky brownish color.
After egg dyeing, we went to another park and played away the afternoon with friends. On Easter morning, the girls were so eager to get downstairs. Mike and I gave the girls some new spring jammies, which worked out nicely since we hadn't done laundry yet for the week. So they got to wear the new cute matching sets on Easter morning. I left the pjs in their room overnight in their baskets, so they'd wake up to them. June was stoked at the early morning surprise.
I realize this picture is blurry, but it's also a favorite of mine from the weekend (minus the laundry basket). I love their excitement as they fly off the stairs towards their Easter Baskets.
Heading straight for the chocolate!
The girls also each got a new bathing suit from Mom and Dad. Lil, of course, wanted to try hers on. Check the full photo album for more of her modeling.
Then it was outside for hunt #2. It rained quite a bit overnight so the girls had to wear rain boots in our mud-pit of a yard.
Lily was not happy that most of the eggs were dirty.
On Sunday afternoon, we went to a friend's house for dinner. We were joined by 2 other families. We had our 3rd egg hunt, ate ham and hung out with friends in the backyard until the kids all crashed from the sugar high and descended into madness.
waiting for "go!"
