Even though it's a short month, I still feel like February FLEW by. The weather was absurdly nice most of the month, so we spent time playing outside, talking walks and going to the park. On the colder days, we watched movies and played dress up and made ALL the Valentine's crafts (none of which I got pictures of apparently).
June, as ever, is obsessed with arts and crafts. Not a day goes by that I don't bring home a stack of drawings, cards and projects from school. And then she spends her afternoon crafting elaborate creations.
Lil continues to keep us on our toes with her ridiculous antics. She makes us laugh all day long. Her current obsession is a lift-the-flap book called Zoom Zoom Baby. She loves to lift the flaps and then hug the baby at the end. She's really starting love stories. She has abbreviated names for several of her favorites, and she remembers the general plot or lines from them.
A few weeks ago, we turned June's car-seat forward-facing, as she'd finally outgrown it rear-facing. She loves looking the same way as us and is rediscovering our neighborhood and common routes. A few times she's even commented that we're going the wrong way...but only because things don't look familiar in this direction.
When we made the switch, we flip-flopped the girls' seats. Lil is also loving the new-found freedom of being in the middle seat. She can climb into the car and into her seat by herself. She's adamant about doing it herself and so proud of this new big-girl status.
Both girls love a good bubble bath in the evening. It's my favorite part of the day too because they are contained and entertained. I recently threw some old measuring cups, spoons and squeeze bottles into the tub toy bag, and they have loved making "cakes" in the bath.
In the afternoons, June enjoys "Kindle time" while I put Lily down for a nap and have lunch. She loves watching her shows. And I don't feel guilty because she's learning so much. (This kid knows so much about animals and nature from Nature Cat, Wild Kratts and Plum Landing. The other day, she correctly identified cirrus clouds on a walk. I had to google to confirm she was right.) Since it's been so nice out lately, I have felt a little guilty about her being inside on the Kindle, so I opened up our sliding glass door and let her enjoy her screen time with some fresh air. She loved it!
Lil's current food obsession is quesadillas... or as she mis-pronounces: say-kuh-dias. This is another thing I'm trying to catch on video. But until then, here's a video of Lily demanding I make her dinner. She likes to wander into the kitchen (while I'm cooking) and tell me to make her dinner. And don't worry, she's talking about a clock at the end, not dropping f-bombs.
On one of our many warm days lately, we spent some time at the park. Lil had a blast playing in the leaves.
