School Carnival

Every August, the girls' school has a family carnival. They get a bounce house, the teachers make games, there are prizes to be won and a big raffle at the end. It's a fundraiser for the school, and it's a lot of fun. It's held in back of the school on their playground too. This is our second year going and the first time Lil was old enough to participate. Both girls had lots of fun eating popcorn, jumping in the bounce house, playing games, getting their faces painted and winning prizes.

Last year I gave June a ticket to enter the raffle . . . and she won. This year, the prizes were on display all week in the school. June had been eyeing a My Little Pony toy. She kept telling me that her friends wanted it too, but she was going to get it at the carnival. So I had to explain to her that it was a raffle and someone was going to win, but it might not be her. She seemed to understand well enough, but I was worried there'd be tears at the end of a long day when she didn't win. Well, raffle time rolled around and she won the damn thing! And then they came to the basket of books that I entered Lily for . . . and she won too! (Why couldn't we win the week of free tuition that Mike and I entered for?!) So we have a couple of lucky ladies in our house. And I can't wait to get rid of that damn noisy piece of purple and pink plastic!
