The Hightower clan had a lovely Easter weekend. June and I started things off on a good note by baking a carrot cake with the obligatory green coconut grass.
On Saturday, we joined our friends for a neighborhood Easter egg hunt. A few hundred families showed up. Last year some of the big kids were unsupervised and June didn't end up with any eggs...so this year I made an effort to ensure that June didn't get too greedy now that she's one of the bigger kids. At one point, we paused to hide some of the eggs she'd found so we could keep hunting. Then June took it upon herself to hide all of her eggs again and unfortunately didn't end up getting any eggs again because the hunt was over at that point. But she still had a blast and Lily was willing to share some of her eggs.
Back at home, we spent the afternoon dyeing our own eggs. Lil was a little sloppy and more interested in tipping the bowls or dipping her hands in them, but June was spot on and loved mixing colors and checking to see if the perfect hue had been achieved.
In the morning, the girls were excitedly checking the backyard to see if the Easter bunny had hid eggs for them. To see a video, click here.
The girls were so excited to get Easter baskets. The goodies were a big hit, especially the light-up chicks.
Back inside we had pancakes for breakfast and--of course--pear bunny salad.
Again, it was a great, but exhausting holiday. We're looking forward to warmer weather and more springtime fun with the girls.
