September

Our first month of school is wrapping up and it's gone surprisingly well. We've had a few hic-cups, but overall, the girls are happy, engaged, excited to go to school, and most importantly I'm getting some free time to get things done around the house.

Earlier this month, Lily lost her 5th tooth. Literally lost it. It was pretty loose and one night at dinner, I realized it was no longer in her mouth. We're assuming she swallowed it. Thankfully the tooth fairy still came.

We're starting to get ready for fall as the temperature drops here in Chicago. Normally, there'd be an average amount of dread over the impending winter. But this year, the dread has been amplified. So we're finding ways to extend our time outside and enjoy the season safely. On Sunday, we headed to a local bike shop where they set up private appointments for picking out a pumpkin. We got to spend plenty of time browsing and taking some pics.

We grew this one!

In place of our pool, we set up a fire pit to keep us warmer outside. It's been a big hit. We ordered a boatload of firewood and we've been enjoying fall evenings in the backyard.

Not sure if we'll make it apple picking this year or not, but the girls are hoping we do. June drew this picture of us and I love it.

We're also really enjoying our morning walks "to school." It puts us all in a better mood and it's been fun to see all the new fall / Halloween decor that our neighbors are putting out. Here's hoping our fall continues to be good.
