This past weekend, we kicked off our annual fall traditions with apple picking and a trip to find pumpkins. We returned to our favorite orchard again this year after missing it last year (because of a bad crop). The girls had fun--June loved picking apples; Lil loved eating them--just like last year. I'm pretty sure Lily ate 4 apples in the hour we were there.
The orchard provides these little cupped picking sticks for reaching the apples high up on the tree. They can be challenging to use, but June was intent on doing it and with minimal guidance, she managed to pick several apples herself. She was soooooo proud!
Then on Sunday, we opted to check out a local garden shop for our pumpkins. I also wanted to get some gourds and fall plants to decorate with, so it was a perfect one-stop shop. The girls were having fun checking out flowers and pumpkins when Lil spotted one of the chickens that roams the property. She was excited and wary as she shouted and pointed. They also had a tiny fall fort/maze set up with bales of hay, pumpkins and burlap walls. Nothing too crazy, but the girls had plenty of fun. They especially loved getting to pick out tiny gourds and pumpkins by themselves. We let them choose a couple each and with a wide selection, it was not an easy decision!
Lil was curious, but kept her distance!
