Junie

After a few reminders, June finally left Lily alone long enough for us to take her 11 month photos. After I was done, I thanked her for listening and asked if I could take her picture. She happily obliged.

So what's our big girl up to these days? She's in the preschool class at daycare where she's learning more and more about letters and numbers. She is a sponge waiting to absorb everything we tell her. She's constantly asking about letters, recognizing them more and wanting to know what words start with. I made a fun "apple picking" letter game for her so she can learn to spell her name and she's having a blast playing it.

At school they also focus on teaching them their full names, so she enjoys asking about our middle and last names and repeating them over and over.

Her old teachers and one of her new teachers speak Spanish, and they've taught her to count in Spanish. She counted to five the other day, and often requests I count in Spanish too. I've also recently started counting with her in French too. Some days she can't decide which language she wants me to use!

In English, though, she counted to 13 without error the other day. She finally gets seven right--she used to say 11--but now when she gets to seventeen, she says 11 and backtracks. Baby steps....

Last year for her birthday, she got a few puzzles, which she quickly mastered. When Grandma Kay was visiting, she bought June some new 24-piece puzzles. She needs a little encouragement to stay focused, but she's pretty good at finding the right pieces. I'm pretty sure she could do it independently if she could keep her 3 year old brain focused long enough.

June is so sweet with her sister. She's a second little mama to Lily. She scolds Lily when she tries to play in the toilet. And she reads to her, sings to her and carries her across the room. Most of the time she's really sweet with Lil. Of course, she has her moments...but overall they have an adorable bond.
