35 Months

Last post before our big girl turns 3. This month, June is . . .

. . . Loving her sister. I still can't get her to stop moving Lily, but at least most of their contact is loving these days. June really does love Lily so much and it's most obvious at bedtime when she gives her a big hug and kiss or when I catch her trying to help Lily sit up. They've been waking up at 5am lately, but the (only) good part of that is that June will bring some books to Lily's bed and they'll sit and play and giggle together until a more reasonable hour . . . or until June knocks Lily over and she smacks her head on the wall.

. . . Jumping. She's finally getting coordinated enough to get both feet off the ground at once. And she loves jumping. On the ground. On the couch. On the bed. Off of curbs. Everywhere.

. . . Singing the ABCs. She's getting really good, and most of the time she actually sings almost all of the letters. She's also been big on BINGO and 1, 2 Buckle My Shoe. It's obvious they sing these a lot at school and it's so cute to hear that she's learning them and how backwards she gets some of the lyrics.

. . . Reading in the bathroom. She's found the instruction manual to her clock and will pull it out and read it while she sits on her potty. And then folds it up and keeps it in the bathroom. Not really sure where she gets this from because we certainly haven't had the luxury of reading in the bathroom since she's been born.

. . . Eating fruit. Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, watermelon, nectarines. I can't believe I am going to say this, but sometimes I think she actually eats too much fruit. By the handful. She is always asking for more fruit and I'm happy to oblige. She's also recently become obsessed with popsicles. Which is basically just more fruit!

. . . Playing memory card games. Her Highlights magazine has had a couple tear-out games for kids and she's starting to get the hang of taking turns, finding matches, remembering where a card was, etc. It's her first real game and she's diggin' it.
