This is my jam.
It's ok Lil. You don't be fussy. We go home. Mama give you milk. Mama give you nap. You sleep in the guest room. In case you wake up, I go see you. I say don't be fussy. I say don't be sad. I change your diaper. I give you pacifier so you not be fussy. You go to sleep.
Lil likes your boobies.
Me: What are you drawing?
June: A bracket
There's no TV at school. We go to the grocery store and buy a TV. I take TV to school so we can watch it.
Look at my dance moves
A few weeks ago, the house behind us got demolished. Since June Bug loves trucks, we went out to the garage and watched the big excavator tear it down. She's was pretty excited to tell Mike all about it that night and even managed to pronounce "excavator."
I think maybe the dust has finally settled and June is used to Lily. There are still occasional hits and bites and taking of toys, but for the most part, June loves her sister and seems to acknowledge that she's here to stay. She's quite helpful with keeping Lily entertained, picking out outfits, reading to her, and fetching pacifiers and diapers for me.
We've been sporadically putting June in big girl panties and encouraging the use of the potty, but admittedly, we've been fairly lazy (or busy) about it. I was hoping it would take off on its own, but potty training seemed to need an extra nudge. I talked with her school about their role in it and we agreed to give it a try soon. In the past week I've tried to be less lazy about it and it seems like maybe it's finally catching on. June loves wearing panties and she's been really great this week about telling us she needs to go and getting to the bathroom by herself. We've only had one accident this week. Huzzah!
And because sometimes you just have to put on your best panties and purse and play the kazoo while you take out ALL of your toys and reorganize them . . . .
