3 Months!

Well, it's official: we have hit the age of prime baby cuteness! It was so hard to narrow it down to a reasonable number of pictures to post. It's also been determined that Lily definitely looks like her dad. I'm fascinated by genetics. It's so interesting to me that we have two kids, one of whom looks so much like me and the other looks so much like Mike.

So Lily is 3 months old. Her weight gaining is going well. She's nursing like a champ, though still not as much as June did as an infant. Although I have to say that's somewhat of a relief. She still loves her pacifier, but has also recently discovered her hands. She's started teething (every morning June not-so-delicately checks to see if Lily has any teeth yet). She gnaws on our hands and her hands, and sometimes she manages to get her middle and ring fingers into her mouth and just sucks on them. It looks like she's throwing up some heavy metal hand gesture.

Unfortunately for Lily (and me), June also likes to chew on Lily's hands. That still doesn't keep this baby from smiling. She is a smile machine these days. Such a happy little girl. If we're being real silly with her, she laughs too, which is pretty much the greatest thing ever.

Lily gets stronger every day. Her head control has improved so much in just the last week. She will hold her head up a lot longer and can turn it back and forth several times before needing to rest.

And those eyes. Those big, sparkly eyes are still a gorgeous shade of grey (or blue depending on the lighting). I could stare into them for hours (and now that June is at daycare, I have the time to do it). This kid's gonna break some hearts with those eyes. She's already got us wrapped around her tiny little fingers . . . and I think she knows it!

It's hard to believe that just 6 weeks ago this little monster was in the NICU. The pictures from her time in the hospital seem like another baby altogether.
