Apple Picking

For the second year in a row, we celebrated the start of fall by going apple picking. There's a lovely orchard not too far out of the city, so we invited some friends, packed a picnic and headed up there.

Here are my favorites photos from the day, but you can see all of them here.

June thought she hit the jack-pot when she saw all of the apples on the ground. We had to watch her though--she kept trying to sneak half-eaten fruit into our bag.

How do you like them apples?!

It was a successful morning. We picked almost 25 pounds of apples. And I got to use my new KitchenAid stand mixer when we got home. So far I've made an apple pie, three loaves of apple bread, and apple sauce. And we've still got TONS of apples left.

Just for fun, here's a comparison with last year's apple picking outing:

What a difference a year makes!
